Here is a place to throw up any book, website, blogs etc suggestions that people have, so we can have them all in one place. From conversations at WhereCamp, people have already suggested:
When Technology Fails by Matthew Stein
The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - and Why by Amanda Ripley
The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker
and probably some other things that I've forgotten.

I'd also like to recommend the Global Guerillas blog written by John Robb

Robin P suggested that Malcolm Gladwell's Blink would be a good accompaniment to Amanda Ripley's The Unthinkable.

Also, I would suggest : Kathy Harrison's "Just in Case", and possibly even a copy of John Wiseman's "SAS Handbook"
